Service Description

ONE SPACE REMAINING Come and learn the art of glass fusing in this 4 week course. Dates: Monday 5th August Monday 12th august Monday 19th August Friday 23rd August 7-8.30/9pm You will spend a couple of hours every week discovering the beautiful art of Fused Glass and creating your own Fused Glass items. I will overview of the art of Fused Glass and how it fuses in a kiln. I will show you how different types of glass can be used to create coasters, pictures, bowls and ornaments, the list is endless. This course is for complete beginners or those who have dabbled a bit with Fused Glass previously. Week 1 - Coasters Learn the Fused Glass basics: What glass can be used for. Learn how to cut glass safely. Learn how the kiln fuses your art piece. Learn about different glass forms. You will make 2 coasters with sheet glass. Week 2 - Tealight holder Learn a little more about how different glass works together using stringers (threads of glass) and frit (crushed glass) and sheet glass to make your ow Fused Glass Tealight Holder. Week 3 - Shallow Bowl Get to grips with your glass cutting skills by mastering the art of cutting sheet glass to create your own abstract square shallow bowl. Week 4 - Light Catcher or Panel Put all the skills you have learnt into practice from the last 3 weeks to form a picture of your choosing. You will use sheet glass, frit and stringers to produce your own 8"x4" light catcher or free standing panel. This will be a design of your choice, botanical, animal, seascape, nature, abstract etc. Light catchers will come with a glass hanger and ribbon included in the price. Alternatively you might like to purchase a beautiful oak stand which is an additional £5 and can be purchased on the day. The oak stand shows off your creation beautifully and is made to a professional standard but the choice is yours. Laura will guide you through the processes each week. Each workshop will last for approximately 2 hours. Light refreshments, tuition and all resources are provided. Closed toe shoes are advised. The finished piece will need to go through the kiln, cool and will be ready for collection when you arrive the following week.
