Service Description

In this 4 week course we will get to grips using different materials to decorate our glass. Please call Laura to book this final space on 07803 906291 as this is advertised on other sites. This course can be attended as a standalone course, you don’t have to have completed Beginners course 1 (BC1) with me, though most enjoy BC1 so much they want to do some more and this is a little different. You can also be a complete beginner to attend this course. We use less coloured glass but instead use glass paint, paint that produces bubbles and metal inclusions between the glass. This produces some amazing effects slightly different to the norm when you think of glass fusing. Week 1 - Learn how to use Metal Inclusions. We make two coasters using pieces of copper sheet, copper wire, silver foil, brass sheet etc between the glass to create permanent pattern within our coasters. This can be cut, stamped out or applied randomly. Week 2 - Introduction to Glass Paint. We make a Tealight holder using paint on the glass. I’ll show you techniques and how to apply the paint. Week 3 - Introduction to Bubble Paint. Make a Shallow Square Bowl using a coloured medium that creates different sized bubbles between two glass pieces. I’ll show you the effects that can be achieved and how to apply it. Week 4 - Create a Light Catcher or Panel. Put all the skills you have learnt into practice from the last 3 weeks or use your favourite technique to form a panel of your choosing. Combine the three together for an even more dramatic effect. Light catchers will come with glass hooks and ribbon included in the price. Alternatively you might like to purchase a beautiful oak stand which is an additional £5 and can be purchased on the day. The oak stand shows off your creation beautifully and is made to a professional standard but the choice is yours. Laura will guide you through the processes each week. Each workshop will last for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Light refreshments, tuition and all resources are provided in Laura’s calm peaceful studio. Learn at your own pace. Closed toe shoes are advised. The finished piece will need to go through the kiln, cool and will be ready for collection when you arrive the following week.
